Loss of Vision through the use of Viagra.

In a recent study, US researchers mentioned seven reported cases of nonarteritic ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), an eye ailment that involves the deficiency of blood supply to the optic nerves, after taking Viagra, the citrate salt of Sildenafil, for their erectile difficulties. The seven reported cases of NAION, when combined with past reports, bring the total number of such cases to 14.

Dr. Howard D. Pomeranz, co-author of the study from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, said in a statement that it was already known that some men who take real Viagra tablets will experience color changes in their vision by seeing things as either blue or green, which would normalise after they stop using the drug.

With the exception of one patient who started having symptoms between 24 to 36 hours after taking Viagra, all the other patients developed symptoms within 24 hours of using the drug.

The initial symptoms experienced by these patients were blurred vision and some degree of vision loss.
